                        Born and raised in New York City, with roots from the Dominican Republic, Marco is a graduate of La Guardia High School For the Performing Arts in NYC and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University.  He has acted, written, co-produced and directed such mega hits as Pico de Gallo and the Southwest Premiere of Rick Najera’s Latinologues (winner of Dallas Observer’s Best of Dallas Award).  He has done work as an actor in New York, San Diego, Dallas, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. Recent credits include “Various Roles” in Dallas Theater Center’s production of 365 Plays/365 Days and “Oberon” in Shakespeare Festival of Dallas’ production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream - The Musical. He has also participated in numerous national commercials for radio and television, most recently roles on Prison Break, Chase and The Good Guys starring Collin Hanks. As a writer he has done commissioned work for ANTHEM, a national organization that promotes positive family dynamics, and has received acclaim for writing the Southwest hits, Pico de Gallo and Heaven Forbid(s)!, named Outstanding New Play by The Dallas/Fort Worth Theatre Critics Forum.  After a successful run in Texas, Heaven Forbid (s)! was invited to perform at the prestigious New York International Fringe Festival where it was received with high praises by Timeout New York magazine and The Edge New York.  His short screenplays, Silence, Mariscal and Kennedy In A Box all received honorable mentions and placed 1st in its heat/groups at the NYC Midnight international screenwriting competitions.  Silence was nominated for Best Dramatic Short, Action On Film Festival, Pasadena California and an official selection/Semi-Finalist, Dramatic Short, SoCal Film Festival In Huntington Beach.  It is also a finalist in the prestigious Creative World Awards.  Mariscal is a finalist in the Slamdance writing competition. His play, La Luz De Un Cigarillo, received an "extended by popular demand" run at New York's Off-Broadway LATEA theater and is the recipient of 5 HOLA awards including Outstanding Achievement In Playwriting. Pulitzer prize-winning author, Junot Díaz, called La Luz De Un Cigarrillo: "Fascinating!  You must see it!"   La Luz De Un Cigarrillo will be added to the 2011 Spanish curriculum Departamento de Español, Facultad de Estudios Generales Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras.  As an actor, Marco is represented by the Mary Collins Agency in Dallas and TAG talents in Austin, Tx

                        ACE Awards began to be distributed in 1969, on the Madison Square Garden stage, the first winners being Miriam Colon, for her performance in "La Farsa del amor Compradito" Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, and Oscar Garcia, who received an institutional recognition for his work as head of the group ADAL, now defunct.                         Confirmed: La Luz De Un Cigarrillo, was just added to the 2011 curriculum of Department of Spanish, University of Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras! There, it will be analyzed and studied by the students of said department.   Many thanks go to professor Europa Pinero Gonzáles, whose generous spirit made this possible!

                        Confirmado: La Luz De Un Cigarrillo acaba de ser añadida al currículum del 2011, Departamento de Español, Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras!  Ahí será estudiada y analizada por los estudiantes de dicho departamento.  Muchisimas gracias a la profesora Europa Piñero Gonzáles, cuyo generoso espíritu hizo esto posible!

                        La Luz De Un Cigarrillo has just been published in an anthology of plays by Dominican writers residing in the U.S. entitled "Mascaras Errantes". Compiled by Dinorah Coronado, the launching was Oct 9th at Boricua College!  Sponsored by the Ministry Of Culture in the Dominican Republic through the national editorial.  MORE INFORMATION ON HOW YOU CAN PURCHASE YOUR OWN COPY OF THIS ANTHOLOGY COMING SOON!
