Marco Antonio Rodríguez (Writer-Director)
Born and raised in New York City, with roots from the Dominican Republic, Marco Antonio is a graduate of La Guardia High School For the Performing Arts in NYC and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. He has acted, written, produced and directed hits such as Pico de Gallo, Heaven Forbid(s)! (Named Outstanding New Play by The Dallas/Fort Worth Theater Critics Forum) and the Southwest Premiere of Rick Najera’s Latinologues, which later moved on to Broadway. La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (Ashes Of Light), received an extended by popular demand run at New York's Off-Broadway LATEA theater, Lehman Stages and Dominican Republic's Teatro Las Máscaras. It will next be produced in Buenos Aires, Argentina. La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (Ashes Of Light) has been published in both Spanish and English editions by NoPassport Press and has been added for study to the University Of Puerto Rico Spanish department curriculum as well as the Spanish and Caribbean Studies Department Curriculum at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Marco Antonio is the recipient of the distinguished Cultural Arts & Entertainment Award given by The New York State Hispanic Court Officer's Society and a Banff Literary Centre Writing Residency in Alberta, Canada. . His most recent play, Barceló Con Hielo (Barceló On The Rocks), won the national MetLife Nuestras Voces Playwriting competition as well as 4 HOLA awards which include outstanding achievement in playwriting. Barceló On The Rocks is a semi-finalist of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's 2015 National Playwright's Conference, a finalist of the American Blues Theater Blue Ink Playwriting Award and enjoyed an extended run at New York's Repertorio Español.

NUEVA YORK –La Luz De Un Cigarrillo, escrita y dirigida por Marco Antonio Rodríguez (premio HOLA y ACE, mejor obra y dirección), será presentada durante dos fines de semana en la Sala de Teatro Rafael Villalona, del Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en los Estados Unidos.
La Luz De Un Cigarrillo es protagonizada por Susanna Guzmán (premio HOLA, mejor actriz. Nominada al premio Emmy por su participación en la serie Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Teresa Yenque (premio HOLA y ACE por trayectoria. Actriz de Broadway, Un Tranvía Llamado Deseo con Natasha Richardson), Arisleyda Lombert (premio HOLA y ACE, mejor actriz de reparto) y Juan Carlos Díaz (Personaje de Paquito en Las Rutas de Julia De Burgos en Lehman College. Actuó en la obra La Barbería y en un show basado en las películas de Harry Potter en Japón).

Se graduó de La Escuela Secundaria La Guardia para las artes escénicas en Nueva York y tiene una Maestría en Bellas Artes de Southern Methodist University. Ha actuado, escrito, producido y dirigido éxitos como Pico de Gallo, Heaven Forbid (s)! (nombrada Mejor Obra por los críticos de teatro en Dallas/Fort Worth) y el estreno Suroeste de Rick Nájera’s Latinologues (la cual llegó hasta Broadway). La Luz De Un Cigarrillo ha sido añadida al currículum de los departamentos de español y estudios caribeños en la Universidad de Puerto Rico y la Universidad de Rutgers en New Jersey como tambien ha sido publicada por NoPassport press en español e inglés. Próximamente La Luz De Un Cigarrillo será producida en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Marco Antonio recientemente fue galardonado con una beca de dramaturgia por el centro internacional de literatura en Banff, Alberta, Canada. Su nueva obra, Barceló Con Hielo, ganó la competencia nacional de dramaturgos MetLife Nuestras Voces en el Repertorio Español como también 4 premios HOLA incluyendo sobresaliente realización en dramaturgia. Barceló Con Hielo es semi finalista en la conferencia nacional de dramaturgos Eugene O'Neil y disfrutó de una exitosa temporada de presentaciones en el Repertorio Español de nueva york.

NEW YORK –La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (Ashes Of Light), written and directed by MarcoAntonio Rodriguez (HOLA and ACE award for best play and direction) returns by popular demand for two weeks only at the Dominican Commission’s Rafael Villalona Theatre in New York City.
La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (Ashes Of Light) stars HOLA winner and Emmy nominated actress (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Best Ensemble, The Leftovers, Louie) Susanna Guzmán, Broadway, television and film veteran Teresa Yenque (HOLA and ACE lifetime achievement awards), Arisleyda Lombert (HOLA and ACE award, best supporting actress) and Juan Carlos Díaz (Off-Broadway hit La Barbería and a stage production based on the Harry Potter movies in Japan)
La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (Ashes Of Light) is for mature audiences only.
Drama/Comedy. A mother’s love knows no boundaries… Over the course of two evenings mother and son, two estranged generations of Dominicans living in the upper west side of Manhattan, attempt to rekindle the love and appreciation for each other and their roots; but unexpectedly revealed intimate and taboo secrets threaten to destroy an already thin bond.

Marco Antonio Rodríguez (Writer-Director)
Born and raised in New York City, with roots from the Dominican Republic, Marco Antonio is a graduate of La Guardia High School For the Performing Arts in NYC and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. He has acted, written, produced and directed hits such as Pico de Gallo, Heaven Forbid(s)! (Named Outstanding New Play by The Dallas/Fort Worth Theater Critics Forum) and the Southwest Premiere of Rick Najera’s Latinologues, which later moved on to Broadway. La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (Ashes Of Light), received an extended by popular demand run at New York's Off-Broadway LATEA theater, Lehman Stages and Dominican Republic's Teatro Las Máscaras. It will next be produced in Buenos Aires, Argentina. La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (Ashes Of Light) has been published in both Spanish and English editions by NoPassport Press and has been added for study to the University Of Puerto Rico Spanish department curriculum as well as the Spanish and Caribbean Studies Department Curriculum at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Marco Antonio is the recipient of the distinguished Cultural Arts & Entertainment Award given by The New York State Hispanic Court Officer's Society and a Banff Literary Centre Writing Residency in Alberta, Canada. . His most recent play, Barceló Con Hielo (Barceló On The Rocks), won the national MetLife Nuestras Voces Playwriting competition as well as 4 HOLA awards which include outstanding achievement in playwriting. Barceló On The Rocks is a semi-finalist of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's 2015 National Playwright's Conference, a finalist of the American Blues Theater Blue Ink Playwriting Award and enjoyed an extended run at New York's Repertorio Español.

Actriz nominada al premio emmy regresa a su galardonado papel en La Luz De Un Cigarrillo en el Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura

NUEVA YORK –La Luz De Un Cigarrillo, escrita y dirigida por Marco Antonio Rodríguez (premio HOLA y ACE, mejor obra y dirección), será presentada durante dos fines de semana en la Sala de Teatro Rafael Villalona, del Comisionado Dominicano de Cultura en los Estados Unidos.
La Luz De Un Cigarrillo es protagonizada por Susanna Guzmán (premio HOLA, mejor actriz. Nominada al premio Emmy por su participación en la serie Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Teresa Yenque (premio HOLA y ACE por trayectoria. Actriz de Broadway, Un Tranvía Llamado Deseo con Natasha Richardson), Arisleyda Lombert (premio HOLA y ACE, mejor actriz de reparto) y Juan Carlos Díaz (Personaje de Paquito en Las Rutas de Julia De Burgos en Lehman College. Actuó en la obra La Barbería y en un show basado en las películas de Harry Potter en Japón).
La Luz De Un Cigarrillo es para adultos solamente. Drama/Comedia. El amor de una madre no conoce barreras... En el transcurso de dos noches madre e hijo, dos generaciones de dominicanos viviendo en el bajo Manhattan, chocan y batallan por sus identidades, amor mutuo y el aprecio por sus raíces. Pero la inesperada revelación de secretos íntimos y tabú atentan romper el ya debilitado vínculo.
